EU DisinfoLab
The EU DisinfoLab is a non-profit organisation based in Brussels, Belgium, dedicated to countering disinformation and promoting media literacy in Europe and beyond.
EU DisinfoLab was founded in 2018 and unites research, analyses, and advocacy efforts in its work. While monitoring disinformation activities across all social platforms to identify trends and threats, EU DisinfoLab additionally applies open-source intelligence techniques (OSINT) to uncover disinformation networks and strategies. It also uncovers inauthentic behaviour aimed at exposing and countering disinformation campaigns targeting European Union institutions, member states, and neighbouring regions. The organisation collaborates with various stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, civil society organisations, and media outlets, to raise awareness about disinformation threats and develop strategies to address them effectively. EU DisinfoLab provides a wide array of topical and regional publications to disseminate insights and recommendations that inform policy decisions and public discourse. It also serves as a network hub for counter-disinformation initiatives across Europe.
EU DisinfoLab’s comprehensive approach, with which it focuses on countering disinformation within the European Union allows for tailored solutions that address specific regional contexts. In addition to that, its commitment to transparency and accountability strengthens its credibility and impact in countering false narratives and protecting democratic processes in the EU.
EU DisinfoLab is funded by donations, private companies and organisations, private foundations, as well as governments.
