CeMAS – Center für Monitoring, Analyse und Strategie
CeMAS, the Center for Monitoring, Analysis and Strategy is a German non-profit think tank, founded in 2021. CeMAS works on topics such as conspiracy ideologies, disinformation, antisemitism, and right-wing extremism. The centre is located in Berlin, Germany.
CeMAS’ work encompasses three key aspects: monitoring major digital platforms, conducting analyses, and providing strategic policy recommendations.
The centre’s great impact stems from its interdisciplinary approach, combining diverse scientific methodologies with journalistic techniques. By meticulously monitoring activities in both digital and analogue realms and conducting precise analyses, CeMAS produces actionable policy recommendations based on scientific evidence.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, CeMAS’ experience and expertise were in particularly high demand, especially in fields related to radicalisation such as right-wing populism, conspiracy ideologies, and extremists like the so-called ‘Reichsbürger’.
Through its expertise and comprehensive analyses, CeMAS significantly advanced the understanding of phenomena such as disinformation, conspiracy ideologies, and anti-democratic tendencies. As a result, the organisation has earned a stellar reputation for effectively addressing these issues. By focusing particularly on the early stages of these harmful trends, CeMAS will continue to play a crucial role in mitigating their impact on democratic discourse and bolstering resilience to protect democratic institutions.
CeMAS is funded by the Alfred Landecker foundation as well as through donations.
